The significance of producing small zinc flower plates
When hot-dip galvanized sheets are used in their bare state, the beautiful, large zinc flowers are highly prized. However, if these hot-dip galvanized sheets are employed as substrate materials for coatings—such as in household appliances, construction materials, or automotive panels—each zinc flower’s crystallization center acts as a raised protrusion. The resulting unevenness, with height differences exceeding 25 μm, often surpasses typical coating thicknesses. This not only compromises the smoothness of the coated surface but also allows the zinc flower pattern to show through the coating, leading to defects such as uneven coloration and an aesthetically unappealing surface appearance. On this issue, numerous studies from abroad have already provided detailed discussions. People have long proposed ideas for eliminating zinc flowers or refining their size and structure.
Since small-zinc-flake steel sheets possess the same corrosion resistance and excellent coating coverage and decorative performance as large-zinc-flake steel sheets, with the improvement of people’s living standards and the advancement of large-scale industrial production technologies, the pre-coated colored coated steel sheet market—particularly for small-zinc-flake products—is poised for a promising future.
