How should galvanized strip steel be selected?

If galvanized strip steel is frequently used in acidic environments, it must be processed using acid solutions during manufacturing. Some components of processing machinery are made from this strip steel, which helps prevent corrosion of the parts. After production, a series of tests must be conducted to determine whether the product meets quality standards: 1. When conducting these tests, we must first examine the product’s exterior, checking whether the surface color is bright and glossy, and then verify that the product’s dimensions meet the specified requirements. 2. We can measure the thickness of the coating on the product’s surface using precise measuring equipment. During measurement, the distance between the measurement point and the device should be less than 3 millimeters, and the spacing between products should be roughly consistent. For each measurement, we calculate the average value across multiple points. 3. After production, samples of the product must undergo quantitative testing, and the selected test items and methods must comply with applicable regulations. Products made from galvanized strip steel are widely used in many manufacturing industries, and their role is irreplaceable. The quality of the galvanizing process directly affects the product’s performance. Galvanized strip steel is manufactured from high-quality steel. The density and uniformity of the zinc coating directly influence its performance, and thus its quality significantly impacts the product’s usability. Currently, in China’s domestic market, aluminum-zinc coated materials are primarily used in construction. Their performance is three to four times better than that of single-galvanized materials. However, in today’s electronics industry, due to aesthetic considerations, hot-dip galvanized steel sheets are predominantly used, and hot-dip galvanizing is mainly applied in construction materials. Aluminum and zinc are the mainstream choices. Simply put, the most common hot-dip galvanized aluminum-zinc coatings are 55AL and 44.5Zn. The quality of the galvanizing process directly determines the material’s corrosion resistance and also affects the service life of many components. Throughout the production process, every step is inspected by dedicated personnel to ensure that the finished products meet standards and satisfy customer needs. So, how should one choose galvanized strip steel when purchasing it? First, you need to consider the thickness, width, and length of the strip steel required. Next, check whether the tin-plated strip steel has any patterns or markings, and pay attention to the specific requirements for the zinc coating. Finally, assess the oil coating—there are light oil coatings and heavy oil coatings. Additionally, there may be environmental protection requirements for galvanized strip steel. As for the quality of galvanized strip steel, the key factors are the material composition and heat treatment conditions, as well as the amount of zinc applied during hot-dip galvanizing. Generally speaking, hot-dip galvanizing refers to applying zinc coatings of 60 grams, 80 grams, or 120 grams per square meter. Nowadays, many factories only achieve a zinc coating weight of around 40 grams. The amount of zinc applied directly affects the pipe’s corrosion resistance. Poor-quality galvanized strip steel often exhibits surface cracks, typically caused by cracking during the annealing process or by using materials that are too hard and poorly annealed.
